Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer will support WFP’s supply chain and Cash-Based Transfer (CBT) operations. You will manage data, coordinate retailer contracts, guide logistics processes, and ensure efficient delivery of food assistance to vulnerable populations in Maiduguri.
Key Responsibilities (Nigeria Context Adapted)
As a Logistics Officer, you will:
Cash-Based Transfer & Retailer Management
- Lead and supervise the CBT team, ensuring smooth e-voucher redemption cycles
- Manage the relationship between WFP and partnered retailers
- Oversee onboarding, assessments, and contracting for new locations
- Ensure compliance with WFP guidelines and emergency response standards
Logistics Planning & Operations
- Support planning and execution of logistics strategies
- Review logistics tools, NFRs, and site transitions to CBT
- Participate in daily operational activities to enhance supply chain efficiency
- Conduct financial and budget analysis to optimise resource use
Reporting, Monitoring & Staff Support
- Compile accurate logistics reports for informed decision-making
- Support capacity building of partners, staff, and field teams
- Offer guidance to support staff and act as a technical point of contact
Emergency Response
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities
- Deploy logistics assistance to crisis-affected areas when needed
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
OR a Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of professional (managerial) experience in logistics or supply chain
- Experience working with suppliers, retailers, and contracts
- Experience coordinating deliveries (air, sea, rail)
- Strong skills in report writing and proposal development
Language
- Fluency in English
- Knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an added advantage for North-East operations
