Position Summary

REBHI is seeking a Health/Nutrition Assistant to support community-level nutrition programming across Borno State. The role involves implementing Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) activities, managing beneficiary data, supporting cooking demonstrations, and strengthening community-based nutrition structures.

The ideal candidate must be passionate about humanitarian programming, detail-oriented, and ready to work in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

As a Health/Nutrition Assistant, you will:

Community Nutrition Support

  • Maintain an updated database for all porridge mum beneficiaries.
  • Work closely with community structures to monitor IYCF activities including:
    • Cooking demonstrations
    • MUAC screenings
    • Hygiene promotion
    • Complementary feeding
  • Mobilize beneficiaries during food or cash disbursements with support from Community Nutrition Mobilizers (CNMs).

Program Implementation & Monitoring

  • Ensure porridge mom kitchens are clean, functional, and utilized appropriately.
  • Document all project activities and compile weekly and monthly reports.
  • Record referrals and follow-up cases for Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) using approved tools.
  • Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team during:
    • Post-distribution monitoring (PDM)
    • Screening exercises
    • Knowledge, Attitude & Practices (KAP) surveys
    • Other nutrition assessments

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage in sensitization meetings with vendors prior to disbursement activities.
  • Participate in community entry meetings, stakeholder discussions, and feedback sessions.
  • Support the development and placement of program information banners.
  • Attend local coordination meetings and supervise CHIPS agents/Community Volunteers
Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in community-based nutrition programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri (mandatory).
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to field challenges.
  • Strong commitment to REBHI’s humanitarian values and principles.
