Job Overview – ICT Specialist II (Mubi Sub-Delegation)

The ICT Specialist II is responsible for ensuring that all ICT operations within the Mubi office run smoothly. This includes managing hardware, software, connectivity, and telecommunication tools used by staff on missions. The role is part of the backbone of field operations, ensuring that communication lines remain open, secure, and reliable.

The ICT Specialist II will work closely with the Finance and Administration Manager and collaborate with various technical teams, vendors, and field delegates.

Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Infrastructure & System Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and maintain laptops, desktops, servers, printers, switches, routers, and UPS systems.
  • Conduct periodic preventive maintenance checks to avoid downtime.
  • Manage ICT spare stock, consumables, and replacement parts.
  • Ensure all systems run according to ICRC global ICT standards.

2. Network & Connectivity Supervision

  • Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues.
  • Track network performance, bandwidth usage, and uptime.
  • Escalate complex network issues to regional ICT support teams.
  • Ensure network security compliance and VPN functionality.

3. Telecommunication Systems Management

  • Configure and maintain HF/VHF radio communication systems.
  • Manage satellite phones, GPS devices, and PABX systems.
  • Ensure communication tools are available for field missions and emergency response.

4. User Support & Training

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets and provide quick resolutions.
  • Assist staff with software installations, upgrades, and access control.
  • Conduct basic ICT training for new staff.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes (email setup, account creation, access rights).

5. Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Implement backup routines and ensure secure data storage.
  • Monitor antivirus tools and ensure system protection is updated.
  • Guide users on best ICT practices for safe digital operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or Telecommunications.
  • 3–4 years of post-graduate experience in ICT support or network administration.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS, networking, and radio communication systems.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, ITIL, or CompTIA are an added advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Valid Nigerian work permit (for expatriates).
