Job Overview
UNIDO is recruiting an ECOWAS Regional Programme Coordinator to support regional integration, trade facilitation, and market access under the ATCMA ECOWAS Programme. The position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria, working closely with ECOWAS, ITC, and other regional stakeholders.
The coordinator will ensure programme alignment with ECOWAS policies, build partnerships, and provide technical support to strengthen trade competitiveness, SME development, and quality infrastructure in West Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Alignment & Strategy
- Review and align ECOWAS trade/market policies (ETLS, CET, ECOTIPS, Industrial & Quality Policy) with ATCMA objectives.
- Support inter-agency coordination and information flow across ECOWAS institutions.
- Organize dialogues between ECOWAS, UNIDO, ITC, and partners.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as liaison between ECOWAS, UNIDO, ITC, and regional/national partners.
- Organize consultations, workshops, and joint implementation meetings.
- Strengthen partnerships with UEMOA, AU, and private sector actors.
Capacity Building
- Guide training, webinars, and knowledge-sharing on trade integration and standards compliance.
- Support ECOWAS and partners in conceptualizing development initiatives.
Reporting & Compliance
- Deliver final reports summarizing results and activities.
- Ensure compliance with ECOWAS, UNIDO, ITC, and EU guidelines.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Advanced degree (MBA/MSc/MA) in engineering, economics, trade, or a related field.
Experience:
- At least 7 years’ experience in regional economic development, SME support, trade competitiveness, and standards compliance.
- Proven experience in West Africa and strong knowledge of ECOWAS institutions and policies.
- Donor and development partner relationship management experience preferred.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and French required.
- Knowledge of Portuguese is an asset.
