Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a proactive technician with strong hands-on experience in machine operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and team supervision.
You will report directly to the Plant Machine Maintenance Coordinator and play a key role in meeting production targets, upholding safety, and improving plant efficiency.
This is a fully onsite role requiring flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and be on call for emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operations & Maintenance
- Operate a wide range of seed processing machines to maintain productivity.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during processing stages.
Generator Management
- Carry out maintenance and repairs on large generators (up to 1000 kVA).
- Ensure stable power supply for seed processing, cold rooms, and warehouses.
Cold Storage & Refrigeration
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair cold rooms, cold stores, and cold warehouses.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to prevent seed quality loss.
Quality Control Monitoring
- Monitor seed and cob conditions, including:
- Moisture content
- Physical quality
- Processing consistency
- Report abnormalities to supervisors promptly.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Record gas, electricity, and chemical consumption for the plant.
- Prepare daily operational reports and share improvement ideas with management.
Team Supervision
- Train casual workers on machine operations, safety protocols, and productivity standards.
- Coordinate work done by external service providers and support technicians.
Emergency Response
- Remain available for emergency troubleshooting after normal working hours.

Required
- A diploma (A1) or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC, or related technical fields.
- Minimum 2+ years of practical experience in machine operations or generator maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with:
Cold room systems
Large generators
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Good communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
Eligibility
- This job is open only to Rwandan citizens or permanent residents.
