This role reports directly to the Deputy Country Director in Tanzania.
The Role – Budget & Programming Officer
The Budget & Programming unit ensures WFP Tanzania manages its financial and operational resources efficiently. You will support budget analysis, financial planning, forecasting, pipeline monitoring, and reporting.
Your contribution is key to helping WFP deliver essential food assistance and resilience-building initiatives across Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
1. Budget Planning & Management
- Support the implementation of WFP’s budgeting procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in preparing and updating budget plans aligned with Country Strategic Plans.
- Ensure accurate and compliant recording of budget information in WFP corporate systems.
- Coordinate follow-up actions related to budget approvals.
- Assist in the closure of CSP/RBP cycles and ensure commitments are updated.
2. Pipeline Management
- Consolidate commodity pipeline needs and prepare monthly pipeline reports.
- Track resources across all transfer modalities (Cash, Food, Capacity Strengthening, etc.).
- Participate in cross-functional resource review meetings and recommend solutions for upcoming shortfalls.
- Support advance financing and stock replenishment processes.
3. Funds & Grants Management
- Participate in internal meetings to review contribution utilization.
- Assist in developing funding proposals in collaboration with the Partnerships team.
- Monitor sub-allotments and ensure timely release of funds to spending units.
- Coordinate inputs for Resource Management Committee meetings.
- Prepare progress reports, donor reports, and financial summaries as required.
4. Additional Duties
- Assist with donor compliance requirements.
- Support internal controls related to finance, accountability, and reporting.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
