One Acre Fund Rwanda (Tubura)
The Rwanda program, locally known as Tubura, was established in 2007 and is the largest One Acre Fund country operation. With over 3,000 staff working across all four provinces and Kigali, Tubura served more than 2.8 million farmers in 2024 alone.
The program works closely with the Government of Rwanda to support national priorities on food security, rural livelihoods, and climate resilience. In addition, One Acre Fund Rwanda supports agri-SMEs and market access initiatives for high-value crops such as coffee, avocado, chili, and tree seedlings.
About the Role: Microinsurance Associate
The Rwanda Microinsurance Associate will play a key role in designing, testing, and scaling innovative microinsurance products tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers. This position is ideal for a strategic, data-driven professional who enjoys independent problem-solving, field engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.
You will work at the intersection of agriculture, finance, insurance, and development, contributing directly to farmers’ resilience against climate, health, and income risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Market Research
- Lead the end-to-end design, testing, and piloting of microinsurance products for smallholder farmers.
- Conduct and oversee market research, including focus group discussions, interviews, and surveys.
- Translate pilot insights into scalable implementation plans, complete with timelines, budgets, and theory of change.
- Advocate for pilot budgets and ensure expenditures remain within approved limits.
2. Project Management, Operations & Distribution
- Set clear performance indicators and monitor pilot and field team results.
- Improve distribution systems to maximize product accessibility and adoption.
- Conduct regular field visits to support training, troubleshoot challenges, and align frontline teams.
- Build and manage partnerships with insurance companies, technology providers, NGOs, and public institutions.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze pilot results using Excel, with exposure to Stata or R considered an advantage.
- Design and maintain databases to track performance and inform decision-making.
- Integrate historical data into ongoing product development and strategic planning.
- Produce clear, actionable reports for internal and external stakeholders.
4. Innovation & Strategy
- Identify opportunities for new insurance products and service improvements.
- Contribute to Rwanda’s country strategy, including defining OKRs and scale-up pathways.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align innovations with core program delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in operations, product development, or business development
- Background in insurance or financial services is strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills, especially in rural or complex environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an added advantage)
