The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), a UN-affiliated international financial institution with 101 Member States, is seeking a highly motivated Impact Investment Analyst to join its growing Operations team in Amsterdam.

CFC plays a critical role in reducing poverty, strengthening smallholder livelihoods, and transforming agricultural value chains across developing countries. Through innovative financial instruments—such as the Agricultural Commodity Transformation (ACT) Fund—CFC supports SMEs, cooperatives, and producer organizations to scale sustainably.

 Key Responsibilities

As an Impact Investment Analyst, you will support the full investment lifecycle of debt-focused agricultural and SME financing projects across CFC member countries.

Core Duties Include:

  • Supporting the origination and development of a strong investment pipeline aligned with impact, risk, and return objectives
  • Participating in the entire deal execution cycle, including:
    • Due diligence (on-site and off-site)
    • Financial modeling and credit appraisal
    • Loan structuring and documentation
  • Assessing Social & Environmental (S&E) performance of proposed investments
  • Reviewing and summarizing investment proposals, identifying risks, gaps, and mitigation measures
  • Monitoring and managing a portfolio of debt investments in emerging and frontier markets
  • Supporting legal and commercial negotiations with investees
  • Preparing internal reports, investment memos, and external documentation for stakeholders

 Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree or higher in:
    • Agricultural Economics
    • Economics
    • Finance
    • Business Administration
    • Forestry or related fields

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in:
    • Impact investment funds
    • Development finance institutions
    • Commercial or development banks
    • Development organizations
  • Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills
  • Experience evaluating SME business models in the agricultural sector
  • Knowledge of trade finance and term loan structures

 Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of rural development, climate change, regenerative agriculture, and green finance
  • Experience assessing environmental and social risks
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and international teams
  • Strong communication, drafting, and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English (French or Spanish is an advantage)
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required
  • Empathy and insight into challenges faced by smallholders and vulnerable communities
