Purpose of the Assignment

As an Education Officer (Gender), you will support UNICEF’s ECW MYRP II program by promoting gender equality and girls’ education outcomes. Reporting to the Gender and Development Manager and Education Manager, your role is central to integrating gender across education programs and supporting gender-targeted interventions.

You will:

  • Ensure gender mainstreaming in all MYRP II initiatives.
  • Support capacity-building for partners on gender-transformative education in emergencies.
  • Strengthen partnerships with women-led organizations (WLOs) to enhance girls’ education outcomes.

 Key Responsibilities

Programme Management & Delivery of Results:

  • Coordinate training for partners on gender-transformative programming in Education in Emergencies and Protracted Crises (EiEPC).
  • Support strategic alliances with WLOs for sustainable gender interventions.
  • Facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration to achieve shared goals for girls’ and women’s empowerment in education.

Monitoring & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Provide technical advice to ensure effective gender integration in program design and implementation.
  • Assist partners in capacity building and training material development.
  • Monitor and report progress against gender-related deliverables in the MYRP II program.

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Administration, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in gender integration in education in emergencies.
  • Experience working with government and partners to increase girls’ enrolment and support female teachers.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver gender-focused programs in humanitarian settings.
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of Hausa. Knowledge of other UN languages is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Northeastern Nigeria is highly desirable.
