Job Overview – Security Liaison Officer
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Base and the Technical Supervisor (Area Coordinator), the Security Liaison Officer plays a vital role in ensuring staff safety, security risk management, and liaison with local authorities in Pulka, Gwoza LGA, Borno State.
This role requires a proactive individual who can analyze local contexts, maintain networks with government and humanitarian actors, and provide actionable insights to strengthen PUI’s mission implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Security Management
- Gather, analyse, and share relevant safety and security information related to PUI’s field operations in Borno State.
- Conduct risk assessments and assist in developing security strategies to safeguard staff and property.
- Deliver security briefings and training sessions for team members.
- Support anti-corruption measures and contribute to investigations when necessary.
2. Liaison and Coordination
- Build and maintain effective networks with stakeholders such as security agencies, local authorities, UN bodies, and NGOs.
- Facilitate official administrative processes within Gwoza LGA and ensure proper representation of PUI.
- Attend stakeholder meetings, interpret when needed, and prepare formal reports.
3. Context Monitoring and Analysis
- Provide weekly situation updates on political, social, and humanitarian developments.
- Conduct in-depth research and produce analytical briefs to enhance PUI’s understanding of the operating environment.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities impacting project implementation.
4. Departmental Priorities
- Strengthen local security networks and coordination systems.
- Roll out contingency planning and periodic training sessions.
- Improve overall quality and reliability of PUI’s security management framework.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc/HND) in Social Sciences, Security Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in humanitarian or security management roles.
- Proven ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Hausa/Kanuri) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
