Job Overview: Finance Adviser (Internal Controls)
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Contract: Fixed National Contract – 12 months
Grade: Senior Level – NRC Grade 8

The Finance Adviser – Internal Controls will strengthen NRC Nigeria’s financial management by ensuring compliance with NRC policies, donor requirements, and international financial standards. This role is critical in maintaining transparency, mitigating financial risks, and promoting ethical financial practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
§ Conduct compliance analysis, generate reports, and implement anti-corruption measures.
§ Train staff on financial procedures, anti-corruption policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). § Conduct spot checks and follow up to ensure adherence to NRC financial policies and documentation standards.
§ Serve as the focal point for donor financial audits in Nigeria.
§ Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks effectively.
§ Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees in alignment with NRC’s advocacy strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Auditor, Compliance Manager, or Finance Advisor in humanitarian or recovery settings. § Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Studies, or Economics (essential).
- Professional accounting membership (ICAN, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Master’s degree in relevant fields is desirable.
- Proven experience working in complex, volatile contexts, with documented results.
- Solid knowledge of modern accounting software and systems.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Hausa or other local languages is an asset.

- Salary: Grade 8 on NRC salary scale (competitive within humanitarian sector).
- Travel: Up to 50% of duties may require travel within Nigeria.
