Position Overview
WFP Nigeria is hiring a Security Operations Support Officer (NOA)
in Abuja to strengthen safety and security operations.
The successful candidate will help manage day-to-day security activities,
ensuring the safety of WFP staff, assets, and operations across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Support WFP’s security operations, ensuring compliance with UN safety standards.
- Liaise with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and local authorities on all security matters.
- Monitor and report on local security developments and advise WFP management.
- Maintain access control and security systems at all WFP premises.
- Assist in planning and managing the security budget and assets.
- Provide briefings, security training, and emergency preparedness support to staff.
- Ensure WFP facilities meet Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
- Support response actions during emergencies and crises.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Advanced degree in Security Management, International Relations, or Law Enforcement.
- A first degree with relevant professional training or experience may be accepted.
- A diploma from a recognized Military or Police Academy is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in security management, risk management, or a related field.
- Experience in high-risk or humanitarian environments is preferred.
- Strong background in coordinating with security agencies and managing teams.
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Strong situational awareness and decision-making in emergencies.
- Ability to conduct security briefings, workshops, and drills.
- Proven skills in conflict management, gender-sensitive risk management, and community liaison.
- Familiarity with UN or international security frameworks.
