About Afro Ark
Afro Ark is a youth and women-led organization established in 2018 to tackle challenges affecting women, girls, and children across Rwanda and Africa. Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), African Union Agenda 2063, and Rwanda’s Vision 2050, Afro Ark works to promote:

Through advocacy, training, and community support, Afro Ark empowers adolescent girls, young mothers, women with disabilities, and mobile entrepreneurs.
About the YEA-R Program
Afro Ark is a partner in the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agriculture Rwanda (YEA-R) Program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and led by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. The five-year initiative will create 40,000 dignified work opportunities for Rwandan youth (70% women, 5% persons with disabilities) in poultry and horticulture value chains.
This role specifically supports Pathway 3: Empowerment, Voice & Agency, ensuring youth and women take an active leadership role in agricultural transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Mobilization: Engage youth, women, and PWDs in groups and cooperatives; involve parents, leaders, and communities in supporting agribusiness.
- Training & Facilitation: Deliver empowerment and leadership training; mentor GESI Champions.
- Gender Equality & Inclusion: Implement inclusive strategies in SMEs; organize dialogues with men, couples, and gatekeepers.
- Youth Leadership & Advocacy: Support youth participation in advocacy, storytelling, and champion training.
- Coordination & Reporting: Collaborate with local authorities and partners; ensure safeguarding and accurate reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Community Development, Rural Development, Education, or related fields.
- At least 3 years’ experience in community mobilization, GESI, or youth/women empowerment.
- Proven skills in facilitation, training, and gender equality programming.
- Experience working with women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English.
- Ability to work independently and travel frequently.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Human-Centered Design (HCD) approaches.
- Experience managing sensitive gender-related issues and safeguarding.
