 Position Overview – Driver

The Driver will play a critical role in ensuring safe, timely, and reliable transportation for CIP staff, project teams, partners, and visitors across Rwanda. This includes providing logistical support, maintaining vehicles, and supporting field activities that contribute to the Rwanda Biotech Capacity Building Project.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport CIP staff, project partners, and visitors to various locations within Rwanda.
  • Maintain detailed daily trip logs and complete vehicle logbooks.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, ensure cleanliness, and promptly report any mechanical issues.
  • Assist with administrative and logistics tasks, including delivering documents, processing permits, and collecting supplies.
  • Adhere strictly to CIP driving standards, road safety rules, and security procedures.
  • Prepare accurate monthly fuel and oil consumption reports.
  • Support field missions, workshops, and project-related activities when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Secondary School Certificate (O-Level or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in NGOs, government agencies, or corporate organizations.
  • Proven safe-driving record with no major offenses.

Skills & Additional Requirements

  • Valid Rwandan Driver’s License (Category B required).
  • Good understanding of vehicle mechanics and ability to perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of Rwanda’s districts, routes, and traffic regulations.
  • Defensive driving skills (an added advantage).
  • Basic communication skills in English; knowledge of French/Kinyarwanda is a bonus.
  • High level of integrity, punctuality, confidentiality, and professionalism.
