About the Position
UNICEF Rwanda is implementing its Country Programme (2025–2029),
aligned with Rwanda’s Vision 2050 and the Second National Strategy
for Transformation (NST2, 2024–2029).
This programme emphasizes inclusive education, youth empowerment,
and skills development, ensuring that adolescents—especially girls,
youth with disabilities, and marginalized groups—can successfully transition
from school to work.
The Education Specialist will play a vital role in supporting these initiatives, helping to design and monitor programmes that equip young Rwandans with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in a modern economy.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of Education, the Education Specialist will:
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of education programmes, with a focus on youth employability.
- Conduct situation analyses and help develop evidence-based implementation plans.
- Strengthen monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks for youth and education projects.
- Analyze programme data to guide improvements and decision-making.
- Support the adaptation and use of M&E tools by UNICEF staff and implementing partners.
- Prepare progress reports, analyze achievements, identify risks, and propose solutions.
- Contribute to annual work plans, mid-term reviews, and impact evaluations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Advanced university degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in education programme design, implementation, or evaluation.
- Skills: Strong analytical, coordination, and communication abilities; proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: 18–80 years.
- Nationality: Must be a national of a country other than Rwanda.
- Donor Requirement: This position is funded by the Government of Korea, therefore only Korean nationals aged 27 are eligible.
- Candidates who previously served as UN Volunteer Specialists funded by the Korean Government are not eligible.
