Job Overview
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Rwanda is looking for a highly skilled Digital Transformation and Innovation Specialist to join its team in Kigali. This role focuses on supporting Rwanda’s growing digital economy through youth-led entrepreneurship, innovative financing, and strategic partnerships.

- Contract Type: International UN Volunteer Specialist (Onsite)
- Duration: 12 months
- Start Date: January 10, 2025
- Eligible Applicants: Japanese nationals only (funded by the Government of Japan)
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Entrepreneurship & Youth Development
- Mentor and support youth-led startups and digital entrepreneurs.
- Design innovative financing models (e.g., blended finance, impact investment).
- Build capacity through digital skills training and business development.
- Link Rwandan innovators with UNDP’s pan-African TIMBUKTOO programme.
2. Innovative Technologies for Development
- Identify and pilot emerging technologies with social impact.
- Scale digital solutions addressing Rwanda’s local development challenges.
- Build partnerships with venture capital firms, investors, and tech hubs.
- Promote Japan–Rwanda knowledge exchange through events and technical workshops.
3. Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization
- Analyze financing options for tech startups and SMEs.
- Develop project proposals, partnership agreements, and funding strategies.
- Support South-South and triangular cooperation on digital innovation.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Digital Innovation, Data Science, Software Engineering, Technology Management, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in digital innovation, entrepreneurship, or innovative financing.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong background in startups, accelerators, or innovation hubs.
- Knowledge of African tech ecosystems and sustainable development.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Languages: Fluent English required.
- Age Limit: 18–80 years.
