  • Key Responsibilities

As a Programme Policy Officer (Economist/Analyst), you will:

  1. Lead economic and household data analysis (consumption, income, food security, expenditure, price elasticities).
  2. Oversee the Research, Assessment & Monitoring (RAM) unit, ensuring integration of VAM and M&E functions.
  3. Conduct micro- and macroeconomic assessments focused on Rwanda and East Africa, analyzing how economic trends affect food security.
  4. Represent WFP in the Development Partners Economist Working Group, strengthening collaboration across stakeholders.
  5. Produce analytical briefs and visual reports for decision-makers.
  6. Build the capacity of WFP Rwanda staff and partners in economic and food security analysis.
  • Deliverables
  1. Two analytical briefs with narrative and visual presentations.
  2. Actionable insights into Rwanda’s macroeconomic outlook and food security.
  3. Strengthened staff and partner capacity in research, analysis, and data use.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Education:
 Advanced degree in Economics, Development Economics, Food Security, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience:
  1. Minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience in economic/food security analysis, econometrics, and quantitative research.
  2. Proven leadership in managing complex economic projects.
  • Technical Skills:
  1. Strong MS Office skills.
  2. Advanced proficiency in STATA or SPSS.
  3. Knowledge of R, Python, GAMS, Visual Basic, XML.
  4. Skilled in econometrics, statistical modeling, and data visualization (e.g., Tableau).
  • Language:

Fluency in English (written & spoken).
