 About the African School of Evaluation (ASE)

The African School of Evaluation (ASE) is officially launching its first edition in 2025, designed to equip professionals, researchers, and young leaders across Africa with world-class skills in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).

As Africa faces growing demand for evidence-based policy and decision-making, the lack of trained evaluators has been a key challenge. ASE bridges this gap by offering structured, professional training tailored to Africa’s development realities.

This initiative also supports the Made in Africa Evaluation movement, ensuring evaluation practices are context-driven, innovative, and led by Africans for Africans.

Purpose and Vision

ASE’s mission is to train a new generation of certified evaluators capable of driving accountability, governance, and sustainable development across Africa.

The programme focuses on:

  • Using Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and digital tools in evaluation.
  • Strengthening local ownership of evaluation practices.
  • Promoting equity and inclusivity in development outcomes.

 Core Courses for 2025

Participants will receive training from globally recognized institutions through  

seven specialized modules:

  1. Evaluation for Equity – CLEAR Anglophone Africa (English)
  2. Impact Evaluation: Theory & Applications – AIR (English, with Stata sessions)
  3. AI for Transformative Evaluation – 3ie (English, hands-on with AI tools)
  4. Mixed Methods in Evaluation – ENAP, Canada (French)
  5. Rapid Evaluation for Policy – CLEAR LAB (Portuguese)
  6. Digitalisation of M&E in Public Administration with AI – CLEAR Francophone Africa (French)
  7. Child-Centered Evaluation – UNICEF (English, humanitarian and development focus)
