- Hold an Occupational Therapy degree and a doctoral degree (PhD, OTD, DrOT, or ScD)
Secure a research mentor with expertise in the proposed area of study
Obtain IRB approval (or be in the process) for their research project
Conduct research at a U.S. academic institution
