Role Overview: Regional Legal Support Manager

Inkomoko is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Regional Legal Support Manager to coordinate legal operations across multiple countries in East and Central Africa.

This position reports directly to the General Counsel and plays a critical role in strengthening legal compliance, contract management, governance systems, and operational legal support across all country offices.

The ideal candidate is a proactive legal professional who can translate complex legal requirements into practical, business-friendly solutions across diverse jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regional Legal Coordination & Country Support

  • Act as the central coordination link between country offices, external legal advisors, and the General Counsel
  • Support legal, regulatory, labor, and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions
  • Track legal deadlines, filings, and active cases across regions
  • Oversee legal documentation and ensure timely follow-up on compliance requirements
  • Support registration, licensing, and operational setup for new country programs

2. External Legal Counsel Management

  • Manage relationships with external law firms and in-country legal advisors
  • Track deliverables, contracts, and invoices from external counsel
  • Escalate high-risk legal matters to senior leadership when necessary
  • Maintain updated records of legal partners and service providers across countries

3. Contract & Legal Documentation Management

  • Support drafting, reviewing, and standardizing contracts, MOUs, and agreements
  • Maintain a centralized legal filing and document management system
  • Track contract renewals, expirations, and obligations
  • Ensure secure archiving of all legal documents and agreements

4. Compliance & Governance Support

  • Ensure organizational compliance with national laws and regulatory frameworks
  • Coordinate audits and compliance documentation across country offices
  • Support corporate filings, board resolutions, and statutory requirements
  • Monitor legal and regulatory updates affecting operations

5. Legal Operations & Capacity Building

  • Improve legal tracking systems, templates, and workflows
  • Support staff training on legal awareness and compliance
  • Prepare legal dashboards, summaries, and reports for leadership
  • Assist in implementing legal policies and operational procedures

6. Dispute & Case Management Support

  • Coordinate documentation for disputes, labor issues, investigations, and claims
  • Support communication with external legal counsel on active cases
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive legal information
  • Maintain organized case tracking systems

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of contracts, employment law, and compliance risks
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification (required)
  • Admission to practice law in at least one African country is an advantage
  • 5–7 years of experience in legal, compliance, or legal operations roles
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions preferred
  • Background in NGOs, financial services, or development sector is an asset
  • Strong contract drafting and legal coordination experience
  • Fluency in English and French (required)
